Sheykh Mateen Ahmed Peracha is the founder of Al-Misbah Institute (www.almisbaah.org), an online institute designed to promote the study of the Qur’an, Hadeeth, and Arabic. He was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan where he completed all his secular education. After working in the IT industry as a programmer for GM and graduating with a Bachelors in Computer Science from Wayne State University, he received an opportunity to study at the world renowned Islamic University of Madinah Munawwarah. After completing his diploma in Arabic studies at the University, he went on to pursue his study of the Islamic sciences completing a rigorous six year program with local Shuyookh in the Prophet’s city. Finishing third in his class in 2011, he received Ijazaat in classical texts and books of Hadeeth.
Sheykh Mateen is currently the Imam/Religious director at ICBN (Islamic Center of Bloomington-Normal) in Bloomington, IL, leading the community on the path to Allah (swt) and teaching subjects including: Arabic, Quran, and Hadeeth. Ustadh Waseem is a graduate of Wayne State University with a degree in Computer Science, and plans to complete his Bachelors in Islamic Studies with the Islamic University of North America this year. His passion is working with young Muslims to revive a sense of belonging and love of their deen. He has committed himself to teaching Islamic Studies and working as a Youth coordinator for the past eight years.
His Islamic studies background includes completing an Imam Certificate Program, designed for young leaders from America in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. He has also studied in various intensive courses in Dawah, Arabic, Tajweed, Tafseer and Hadeeth studies and holds an Ijazah in the recitation of the Qur’an. He is continuing his studies in Arabic and the Islamic sciences with Sheykh Mateen and local scholars in Michigan while also studying a rigorous Tafseer course with Al-Huda Institute. He lives with his wife and four children in Detroit, Michigan.
